The first time we were supposed to photograph Ethan + McKinlee's engagement session - we postponed with a good reason for doing so. While there were tornado warnings in effect for the area, we decided that it would be in everyone's best interest in selecting another date - as Ethan and McKinlee weren't going for a Wizard of Oz themed session (as much fun as that would be!). After selecting the next potential date, we saw that the chance of rain on that day had gone from 25% to 80%, and back down the 30%. At this point, we decided that going ahead and proceeding with the session despite the chance of rain was our best bet, and I am so glad that we did!
After meeting up with Ethan and McKinlee, we made our way back to the edge of Oakes Quarry Park in Fairborn, Ohio. This space has an out-of-this state feel and is absolutely perfect for any session where the client wants something different than typical Ohio has to offer. From spaces that mock anything from a wetland to an eastern desert, Oakes Quarry has it all. The meaning of this location was much more than just a vast location, it was where Ethan proposed! A so-in love couple, a beautiful love story, and a location with a special purpose is what we like to call the engagement trifecta and this was no different.
While walking, the 30% chance of rain snuck up on us, but we didn't let it stop us from having the best time with these two. Instead, we used it as the perfect opportunity to get out the clear umbrellas and try something that I've always wanted too - rainy engagement photos! After a bit, the rain eventually subsided and made way for a gorgeous, sunny Wednesday evening.
We ended their session at one of the few small reserves that the park has to offer where McKinlee + Ethan did a quick outfit change and jumped right into the water, where we took some of my favorite engagement images!
McKinlee + Ethan, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your wedding, we can't wait to celebrate with you two next year. We wish you both the best in every adventure that life sends your way!
